Children’s Museum Houston is set to host a Sensory Friendly Day on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., inviting families with children who have sensory processing differences to enjoy a specially curated experience. This unique event will offer a supportive environment tailored to accommodate sensory sensitivities, ensuring an inclusive day of exploration, learning, and fun.

With adjustments like reduced noise levels, dimmed lighting, and exclusive attendance, the museum aims to create a welcoming atmosphere for all participants. Families can look forward to hands-on exhibits and activities designed to inspire curiosity, as well as several highlights that promise to engage and delight children of all ages.

Interactive storytelling sessions, aptly named Sensory Friendly Storytime, will captivate young minds, while therapy animals from Faithful Paws will provide comfort and companionship. Guests can also attend screenings of Deaf Giants and 4 Quarters of Silence as part of the ReelAbilities Film Festival, and an interactive workshop led by the Houston Ballet will offer a glimpse into the elegance of dance. For those seeking a moment of calm, the Cool Down Room on the second floor will provide a quiet retreat.

In addition to these activities, families can connect with community partners on-site, including ACES ABA, Bright Path Behavior, Diagnostic Intelligence Assessment Group, LLC, and the University of Houston Cognitive Lab, all of which provide resources and support for children with developmental and behavioral needs.

Pre-registration is required to secure a spot for this exceptional day. Please contact Lydia Dungus at ldungus@cmhouston.org or call (713) 535-7238 to make a reservation

Families unable to attend can mark their calendars for upcoming Sensory Friendly Days on April 7 at the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center and April 14 at Children’s Museum Houston.
