Houston’s very own global icon, Travis Scott, is back with his Cactus Jack Foundation to host the highly anticipated 3rd Annual HBCU Celebrity Softball Classic on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Daikin Park, home of the Houston Astros. The evening promises to be a powerhouse of entertainment, sportsmanship, and philanthropy, shining a spotlight on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) while uniting some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment.

The festivities will kick off with a Home Run Derby at 7:00 PM CT, featuring baseball legends Manny Ramirez, Robinson Canó, Prince Fielder, and Ryan Howard stepping up to the plate for an electrifying competition. Immediately following at 7:30 PM CT, the Celebrity Softball Classic will bring together an all-star roster of athletes, entertainers, and community icons for a six-inning game that promises unforgettable moments.

A Star-Studded Lineup

This year’s celebrity roster is nothing short of extraordinary, featuring names like Barry Bonds, Metro Boomin, C.J. Stroud, Reggie Jackson, Teyana Taylor, Ne-Yo, Swae Lee, Scarface, Amber Rose, Sydney Thomas, CC Sabathia, Andre Johnson, Emmitt Smith, CeeDee Lamb, Michael Vick, Jalen Ramsey, and many more. With past MVP C.J. Stroud set to defend his title, and last year’s Home Run Derby champion Robinson Canó returning, the stakes are higher than ever.

A Celebration of Legacy and Impact

Beyond the game, the event serves a deeper purpose. Honoring Travis Scott’s late grandfather, Waymon Webster, and the family’s multigenerational HBCU legacy, the Cactus Jack Foundation will once again host its HBCU Student Scholar Ceremony in partnership with the NAACP Houston Chapter. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Waymon Webster Scholarship Fund, which helps HBCU seniors cover final tuition fees, enabling them to graduate on time and achieve their dreams.

The celebration will also feature the Cactus Jack Social Impact Village, an interactive hub with over 20 community and civic organizations offering resources to attendees. Highlights include exclusive Cactus Jack merchandise, giveaways, raffles, and a silent auction with rare music and sports memorabilia.

Community Action Leading the Charge

The event is part of the Cactus Jack Foundation Community Action Week, which begins on February 11, 2024. Activities include a pop-up lab at the Cact.Us Design Center and the first-ever Cactus Jack Foundation & Houston Astros Foundation Youth Clinic at the Astros Youth Academy. These initiatives underscore Scott’s commitment to empowering youth through education, creativity, and community engagement.
