The OBO, in partnership with Workforce Solutions, organizes this job fair multiple times throughout the year, creating a vital bridge between talented job seekers and employers. Attendees will not only have the chance to meet with companies hiring on-site but can also apply for positions and access complimentary resume assistance. Additionally, Franklin Barber and Beauty Institute will be offering free haircuts to help job seekers look their best when meeting with potential employers.
"We are committed to driving economic growth and providing tangible opportunities for the residents of Houston," said Cylenthia Hoyrd, Director of the Office of Business Opportunity. "The Turnaround Houston Job Fair is more than just a job search event; it’s a platform that empowers individuals to take the next step in their careers and contribute to Houston’s thriving economy."
Since its inception in March 2016, the Turnaround Houston Job Fair has become a beacon of hope for those seeking employment, including the unemployed, underemployed, and formerly incarcerated individuals. Over the years, the initiative has helped more than 7,000 people overcome employment barriers, reinforcing its pivotal role in Houston's workforce development.
"A strong workforce is the backbone of a thriving community," said Joaquin Martinez, Houston City Council Member for District I. "I am excited to partner with OBO to bring this incredible job fair to District I. It’s a vital resource for improving the lives of Houstonians and ensuring that employment opportunities are within reach for all."
This free-to-attend event is open to job seekers of all backgrounds, and pre-registration is encouraged. To ensure inclusivity, on-site language translation services will be provided by City of Houston staff and volunteers. Since parking is limited at the Magnolia Multi-Service Center, attendees are advised to arrive early. Overflow parking will be available at the Capitol Flea Market (7046 Capitol St.).
