HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest has been named a recipient of the 2026 Patient Safety Excellence Award by Healthgrades, placing it among the top 10% of hospitals nationwide for patient safety.

The designation is based on an evaluation of risk-adjusted complication and mortality rates across approximately 4,500 hospitals. Healthgrades’ analysis of data from 2022 through 2024 identified more than 167,000 preventable safety events among Medicare patients nationwide. According to the findings, patients treated at hospitals receiving the award had lower risks of several common complications, including in-hospital falls resulting in fractures, procedure-related collapsed lungs, hospital-acquired pressure sores, and catheter-related bloodstream infections.

In addition to the patient safety recognition, HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest was recently named one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals for overall clinical care. The hospital also received recognition for performance in prostate surgery, surgical care, and gastrointestinal care.

The facility has received the Patient Safety Excellence Award for four consecutive years from 2023 through 2026.

Separately, the hospital has introduced Aquablation therapy, a minimally invasive treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia. The FDA-cleared procedure uses a high-pressure water jet and robotic technology to remove excess prostate tissue without incisions. The treatment is designed to reduce side effects commonly associated with traditional surgery, including impacts to sexual function and urinary control, and can be used in patients with prostates of varying sizes.
