Houston’s Media Community Invited to Celebrate 40 Years of Impact at the 2026 HAHMP Sylvan Rodriguez Scholarship Gala

The Houston Association of Hispanic Media Professionals (HAHMP) is celebrating a major milestone in 2026 with its 40th Anniversary and the 2026 Sylvan Rodriguez Scholarship Gala, bringing together Houston’s media community in support of scholarships and the next generation of media professionals.

Established in 1987, HAHMP is a nonprofit organization of Hispanic professionals in the Houston media industry, representing professionals across the field, from on-air news talent to freelance web designers. Through its work, the organization has awarded more than $800,000 in scholarships during its more than 30 years of service to the community.
The annual gala honors the legacy and example of Sylvan Rodriguez, the beloved Houston television journalist and anchor best known for his work at KHOU Channel 11. During his 23-year broadcasting career, Rodriguez became a trusted local figure and a pioneer for Latinos in media. HAHMP continues to celebrate his name and legacy through its annual gala.

The 2026 HAHMP Sylvan Rodriguez Scholarship Gala offers the Houston community an opportunity to celebrate four decades of the organization’s impact while supporting its ongoing work and scholarship efforts.
VIP Individual tickets are $250, and Individual tickets are $200. Supporters are encouraged to purchase their tickets and join HAHMP for its 40th Anniversary celebration and the 2026 Sylvan Rodriguez Scholarship Gala.
Supporters can also explore opportunities to purchase gala tables, fund scholarships, make donations and become involved with the organization. HAHMP notes that donations directly support its scholarship fund, event registration fees and member benefit packages.
