Broadway is making a bold return to Houston with a season that blends iconic classics, fresh Broadway hits, and long-awaited fan favorites. The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts has announced its Memorial Hermann Broadway at the Hobby Center 2026–2027 Season, a year-long lineup that promises to bring some of the most celebrated productions in theater today to downtown Houston.
Launching in September 2026, the season opens with The Sound of Music, the timeless Rodgers and Hammerstein musical that has captivated audiences for generations. The beloved story of Maria and the von Trapp family sets the tone for a season rooted in powerful storytelling, music, and spectacle.
From there, the lineup moves into new territory with Buena Vista Social Club, a five-time Tony Award-winning musical inspired by true events and the Grammy Award-winning album that introduced the world to the soul of Havana. The production arrives in Houston directly from Broadway, blending live music, dance, and history into an immersive theatrical experience.
Romance takes center stage in early 2027 with The Notebook, the stage adaptation of the bestselling novel and iconic film. The musical follows Allie and Noah as they navigate love across decades, delivering an emotional story that has already resonated deeply with Broadway audiences.
The season continues with a burst of color and comedy in BOOP! The Musical, which brings Betty Boop out of her black-and-white cartoon world and into modern-day New York. Designed for audiences of all ages, the production mixes nostalgia with contemporary flair, humor, and heart.
In March, Houston welcomes Alicia Keys’ Hell’s Kitchen, a vibrant coming-of-age story inspired by the Grammy Award-winning artist’s life and music. Set against the backdrop of New York City, the musical explores ambition, identity, and community through a soundtrack that blends Keys’ greatest hits with new songs written specifically for the show.
Comedy returns to the spotlight with Death Becomes Her, the musical adaptation of the cult-classic 1992 film. The Tony Award-winning production delivers sharp humor, spectacle, and larger-than-life performances in a story about fame, rivalry, and the cost of eternal youth.
One of the season’s most anticipated arrivals comes in early summer with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The six-time Tony Award-winning play brings the wizarding world to the stage with groundbreaking theatrical effects, following the next generation of characters as they navigate friendship, legacy, and the consequences of rewriting the past.
The season closes in August 2027 with the return of Jersey Boys. Celebrating two decades since its Broadway debut, the musical retraces the rise of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, bringing their chart-topping hits and behind-the-scenes story back to Houston audiences.
In addition to the core lineup, theatergoers will have the option to add two major favorites to their subscriptions. Beetlejuice, based on Tim Burton’s cult-classic film, returns by popular demand in November 2026, while Wicked makes its long-awaited return to Houston in summer 2027.
Seven- and eight-show Broadway at the Hobby Center subscription packages go on sale Tuesday, February 3, at 11 a.m., with prices starting at $331. Current 2025–2026 subscribers will be automatically renewed into an eight-show package on February 17, 2026, with the ability to review accounts in advance.
With ten productions spanning September 2026 through August 2027, the upcoming Broadway at the Hobby Center season reflects Houston’s growing appetite for both blockbuster musicals and story-driven theater. From classic melodies to modern Broadway hits, the 2026–2027 season promises a year of unforgettable nights at the theater.
