Wine collectors and design enthusiasts have something extraordinary to toast this season as Oregon's Cimento Wines introduces a limited-edition release that pairs exceptional winemaking with one of the Pacific Northwest's most recognizable heritage brands.
The estate-driven winery, rooted in The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater, Oregon, has partnered with Pendleton Woolen Mills to debut a custom woven magnum bottle bag created exclusively for the release of its 2022 Cimentare Malbec Magnum. The collaboration celebrates the shared values of craftsmanship, regional identity and an unwavering commitment to quality that define both brands.
More than wine packaging, the custom bottle bag is designed as a collectible keepsake that remains long after the final pour. The textile features Pendleton's archival Painted Hills pattern, reimagined in a custom color palette inspired by Cimento's earthy visual identity and the rolling landscape of the Walla Walla Valley. Rather than being printed onto the fabric, the design is woven directly into the textile using Pendleton's renowned jacquard weaving process.
Each bottle bag reflects an extensive manufacturing process, passing through approximately 25 pairs of hands during design development, artwork preparation, production layout, weaving, finishing, inspection, cut-and-sew, packaging and distribution. The result is a handcrafted expression of place that complements the winery's philosophy of thoughtful presentation and terroir-driven winemaking.
The collaboration brings together two companies deeply rooted in the Pacific Northwest. Pendleton has been weaving iconic textiles in the region since 1863 and continues to operate two of America's remaining woolen mills in Pendleton, Oregon, and Washougal, Washington. The Pendleton Mill, which opened in 1909, houses the company's jacquard looms where its signature patterns are woven into fabric. Now in its sixth generation of family ownership, Pendleton continues to preserve one of the nation's enduring textile manufacturing traditions.
For Cimento Wines, the partnership reflects the same reverence for place that defines its vineyards. The winery produces estate-grown wines exclusively from The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater in the Walla Walla Valley, one of America's most geologically distinctive wine regions. Ancient basalt cobblestone soils, created by glacial floods thousands of years ago, produce wines recognized for their structure, savory depth and unmistakable texture.
Cimento's portfolio features both Rhône and Bordeaux varietals, including Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Malbec and Rhône white wines. The winery follows a philosophy of minimal intervention and meticulous vineyard stewardship, allowing each vintage to express the identity of its vineyard site while maintaining a commitment to sustainable farming and uncompromising quality.
Designed with collectors, wine lovers and holiday gift buyers in mind, the 2022 Cimentare Malbec Magnum is priced at $500 and includes the custom Pendleton magnum bottle bag at no additional cost. The limited-production release will be available exclusively through Cimento's mailing list and select placements.
The collaboration will continue later this year with the introduction of a coordinating Pendleton blanket as part of Cimento's broader holiday gifting program, further extending the partnership between two brands united by a shared appreciation for craftsmanship, artistry and the enduring character of the Pacific Northwest.
