Houston-area high school seniors interested in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics have a new opportunity to help fund their college education.
The Astros Foundation and Daikin Comfort Technologies North America have opened applications for the Daikin Most Valuable STEAM Scholarship, a $100,000 program that will award $10,000 scholarships to ten graduating seniors across the Greater Houston region. Applications are now open and will be accepted through March 31, 2026.

The scholarship, now in its second year, is designed to support students who demonstrate strong academic performance and a commitment to STEAM-related fields. The program also highlights the growing role of STEAM education in preparing students to become creative problem-solvers and innovative thinkers in an evolving workforce.
STEAM expands on traditional STEM education by integrating the arts alongside science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The approach encourages students to combine analytical thinking with creativity through disciplines such as design, architecture, and language arts while building real-world problem-solving skills.
To be eligible, applicants must be graduating high school seniors in the class of 2026 who plan to attend a college or university after graduation and can provide proof of acceptance. Students must also have a permanent address in one of several counties in the Greater Houston area, including Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, Galveston, Montgomery, Liberty, Chambers, Austin, San Jacinto, Walker, Waller, or Wharton counties.
Applicants are required to submit a 300-word essay explaining the importance of STEAM education and how it has contributed to their personal growth, academic achievements, and future career goals. The application must also include two letters of recommendation from adults and be completed before the March 31 deadline.
Daikin, a global leader in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration technology, launched the scholarship in partnership with the Astros Foundation in 2025. The program was introduced during the same year the company secured the naming rights to Daikin Park.
Last year’s inaugural scholarship recipients represented a wide range of interests and achievements, including robotics, band, community service, and advanced academic programs. Many went on to pursue degrees in fields such as chemical engineering, biomedical sciences, petroleum engineering, and electrical engineering.
The scholarship is part of Daikin’s broader commitment to workforce development and community investment in the Houston region, where the company maintains a major presence and employs thousands of workers.
Houston-area seniors who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply before the March 31 deadline.
