Houston, get ready to be swept away by a world of acrobatics, music, color and a little magic! Cirque du Soleil is bringing its breathtaking Big Top experience back to the Bayou City with LUZIA, a visually stunning production celebrating the beauty, culture and spirit of Mexico.

Running March 20 through May 9, 2027, at Sam Houston Race Park, LUZIA will mark the production’s first return to Houston since 2019. The show invites audiences into a dreamlike world where extraordinary performers, imaginative landscapes and mesmerizing visual effects create an unforgettable live entertainment experience.

From sun-soaked deserts and ocean-inspired scenes to lively dance halls and nostalgic movie sets, LUZIA takes audiences on a theatrical journey through an imaginative version of Mexico. Expect gravity-defying stunts, dazzling costumes, live music and jaw-dropping feats that push the boundaries of what the human body can do.

One of the production’s most impressive features is rain incorporated directly into live acrobatic performances, a first for a Cirque du Soleil touring show. Imagine performers spinning through falling rain, aerialists soaring above cascading water and acrobats executing daring moves amid a carefully choreographed downpour. It is a spectacle designed to be experienced in person.

Written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, in association with Brigitte Poupart, LUZIA blends traditional circus artistry with contemporary theatrical storytelling. Audiences will see Cyr Wheel artists, aerial performers, hoop divers, contortionists, jugglers and football freestylers bring the production’s surreal world to life beneath the Big Top.

Even the show’s name tells part of the story. LUZIA combines luz, the Spanish word for light, with lluvia, meaning rain, reflecting two of the production’s central elements. Since its world premiere in 2016, the show has welcomed more than 5 million people worldwide.

Whether planning a memorable date night, a family outing or an excuse to experience something extraordinary, Houston audiences will have an opportunity to rediscover the magic of live performance when LUZIA arrives in 2027.
