Houston plant lovers can add Texas native plants to their gardens during the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center’s Fall Plant Sale, taking place Oct. 2 and 3.

The sale will feature approximately 250 plant varieties, including perennial and annual wildflowers, grasses, shrubs and trees. Featured plants include Aromatic Sumac, Texas Coneflower, Arrowwood Viburnum, Chile Pequin, Passionflower Vine and five species of native milkweed.

The plants can help attract butterflies, bees and other pollinators while helping gardeners conserve water, reduce mowing, protect soil and reduce the need for fertilizer and pesticides.

Proceeds from the sale benefit the Houston Arboretum’s conservation and education efforts.

The Fall Plant Sale will be held Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center, 120 West Loop North, Houston, between Post Oak Boulevard and Woodway Drive.

Plant prices are $5 for 4-inch plants, $15 for 1-gallon plants, $16 for milkweed and $35 for 3- to 5-gallon plants.

Admission is free. Paid parking is available, while Arboretum members can park for free by entering their member code. Visitors should enter through the 610 Entrance and park in the parking loop for access to the sale.

Gardeners are encouraged to arrive early, as plant quantities may be limited. Visitors who have a cart are also encouraged to bring one because only a limited number of carts will be available at the sale.

The Houston Arboretum holds plant sales in both fall and spring, and members receive discounts on plant purchases.
