Governor Greg Abbott today directed the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to temporarily suspend inmate fees for health care services related to COVID-19. While incarcerated Texans housed within TDCJ facilities are never denied access to health care due to an inability to pay, this temporary waiver will encourage timely reporting of COVID-19 symptoms so that offenders are given the treatment they need.

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Brendan Scher to the Texas Public Finance Authority for a term set to expire on February 1, 2025. The authority issues and sells bonds for designated state agencies in order to finance the acquisition or construction of buildings.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Remains Quiet On Whether The State Will Opt Out Of Refugee Program
A large majority of the country’s governors have told the Trump administration that their states will continue accepting refugees, but with less than three weeks left to make up his mind, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott hasn’t made clear if he’ll add his name to that list. Governors, mayors, county judges and other elected officials have until Jan. 21 to notify the U.S. State Department if they will continue participating in the refugee resettlement program.
