On Friday, September 20, 2013, Houston Style Magazine was on hand in Washington, DC at the How to Succeed in the 21st Century in the Leading Industries in America Energy, Financial, Sports/Entertainment and Transportation in conjunction with the Congressional Black Caucus. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was the honorary host of the event. In this session, they discussed what drives the differing statistics among American and German youth, how we are currently working to change our secondary vocational and technical education to better equip our youth, and show examples of how collaborations of academia and industry can lead to better opportunities around the country. Some in attendance were Rhonda Arnold, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Paula Jackson, Cherri Branson, Lonnie Taylor, Colette Honorable, Alexander Poutbair, Dale LeFebvre, Laolu Davies-Yemitan, and Houston City Controller Ron Green.
