Photography by Roswitha Vogler - On Tuesday, September 17, 2013, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at City Hall as Mayor Annise Parker and the Hispanic Advisory Board announced the 2013 Hispanic Heritage Award recipients. The awards announced for 2013 were: Lifetime Achievement: Dolores “Lolita” Guerrero; Art in the Community: Macario Ramirez; Community Activist: Mario Martinez; Education: Nicolas Kanellos, Ph.D. and Youth Activist: Nohemi Chavez. All recipients will be honored at the Mayor’s Hispanic Heritage Award Reception to be held October 9th from 5:30- 7 pm at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, 1001 Bissonnet St. Some in attendance celebrating with the award recipients were Houston City Council Members; Roland Garcia, Co-Chair, Mayor's Hispanic Advisory Board; Yolanda Black Navarro, Co-Chair, Mayor's Hispanic Advisory Board; and Deborah Roldan, Museum of Fine Arts Assistant Director.
