On Wednesday, August 21, 2014, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at the Office of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee for the Kick Off of the Back- To- School Haircuts & Hairdos with the Santana Dotson Foundation & Franklin Beauty School. The event will be hosted at the Congresswoman’s Fifth Ward office located at 4300 Lyons Avenue. To kick things off, Franklin Beauty College had a few stylist and barbers on site during the press conference to providing free haircuts and hairdos of children in the fifth ward area. The event marks the expansion of Dotson Family Park outreach and empowerment programming initiative focused on improving academics, growth of leadership skills and increasing the number of students that graduate from high school and enter college; while giving back to the local community in a positive manner. Some in attendance were Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, former NFL Green Bay Packers player Santana Dotson, and Ronald Jemison, Jr President of Franklin Beauty College.
