Photography by Vicky Pink Photography by Vicky Pink On Sunday, May 4, 2014, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at Hope Hall at St. John’s Downtown for the 19th Annual Pre-Mother’s Day Luncheon. The affair hosted by Hanging Tough, Friends of Friends, and Flo Cooper honored mothers, grandmothers, and mentors. Many gathered to see the nineteen 2014 honorees and fifth teen “Hanging Tough” Council of Women of Distinction Wall of Famers. The women were honored through poetry and with precious memories told by their loved ones. The 2014 honorees were Denise Adams, Betty Bland, Cynthia Barkley, Gwen Carter, Edwina Clark, Minnie Cox, Kim Elswick, Letty Gavito, Modesta Gill, Millie Johnson, Lois Johnson, Mildred Johnson, Eve Randle, Karen Carter Richards, Norma Goodrich, Mary Grives, Margorie Guillory, Donna Harris and Barbara Johnson. Some in attendance were Helen George, Dr. Edith Irby Jones, and Karen Johnson.
