Photography by Vicky Pink On Thursday, May 15, 2014, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at the Rice Hotel for the Texans Together (TT) Texas Traditions Annual Luncheon. The signature fundraiser honors those who share the values of Texans Together. This year’s honoree was Mayor Annise Parker, for her commitment to celebrating and protecting Houston’s diversity. Emceed by Lily Jang, Father Salvatore DeGeorge, TT’s board president, Jan Fox, and TT’s executive director Charhonda Cox also participated on the program. Mayor Parker gave an impactful speech about the hard work of passing the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance and thanked Texans Together for the months of work our volunteers and organizers have done to build grassroots support for protecting our diversity. Some in attendance were Ann Bennett, Fred Lewis, Gene Locke, Assata Richards, Eva Calvillo, Travis Sheive, Frank Garcia, Mirakel Mayoral, Rogene Gee Calvert, Adra Hooks, Henry Groppe, Carol Gropp, and Keith Wade.
