Photography by Vicky Pink On Wednesday, September 24, 2014, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. as the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Incorporated (CBCF) and Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Spouses hosted a Celebration of Leadership in the Fine Arts recognizing the contributions of three icons in the arts during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation 44th Annual Legislative Weekend. This year's honorees were actress Phylicia Rashad, singer-songwriter Bill Withers and psychiatrist and professor Dr. Alvin Poussaint. Angela Rye, the founder and director of Impact Strategies, served as the mistress of ceremonies. In addition to honoring famed artists, the affair also raises funds for scholarships for students pursuing visual and performing arts degrees. Some in attendance were Vice President Joe Biden, Congressman Al Green, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Dr. Reagan Flowers, Rep. Terri Sewell, Rep. Steven Horsford, Rep. Sanford Bishop, Jr., Rep. James Clyburn, and Rep. John Lewis.
