Photography by Vicky Pink On Monday, October 6, 2014, Houston Style Magazine was on hand at Texas Children’s Hospital for the Ebola, Texas Medicaid Expansion and More Roundtable Discussion. Hosted by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, the roundtable discussion gathered national and local officials and federally qualified health clinics and health experts to talk about important health care issues such as the Ebola virus and other important health issues. Topics of discussion included Texas not fully participating in Medicaid expansion; the numbers of persons seeking assistance and the capacity of service providers to meet that demand; and what additional resources are needed to address potential healthcare situations like the child respiratory Enterovirus D68 or the Ebola concerns raised by the first U.S. based case occurring in Dallas Texas. Some in attendance were The Honorable Sheila Jackson Lee, The Honorable Gene Green, The Honorable Frank Pallone (6-NJ), Senior Member on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and Ranking Member of the Committee's Subcommittee on Health, Center for Disease Control Officials, local Health Care officials and others.
