Photography by Vicky Pink On Thursday, January 22, 2015, Houston Style Magazine was on hand as the Harris County Department of Education held an appreciation reception for the Board of Trustees. The reception was held before their monthly meeting. It was a way to thank Trustees Debra Kerner and Howard Jefferson for their service as they were leaving the board as well as say thank you to other trustees for their past year of service. In addition, new trustees were welcomed to the board. School Board Appreciation Month is a campaign organized by the Texas Association of School Boards to honor local school board members. This year’s campaign is called “A Work of Heart.” Some in attendance were Erica Lee Carter, Angie Chesnut, Diane Trautman, Kay Smith, and Marvin Morris.
