Photography by Vicky Pink On Saturday, March 28, 2015, Houston Style Magazine was on hand in the 3700 Block of Lyons Avenue for the Lyons Avenue Renaissance Festival. The free annual family event organized by Fifth Ward Community Redevelopment Corporation (FWCRC) and Houston City Council Member Jerry Davis was a way for those in Fifth Ward and other Houston communities to celebrate the season, enjoy live entertainment, and learn more about housing in the neighborhood, healthcare information, and an array of other community services. New for this year’s event was a helicopter drop of 20,000 eggs for a city-wide egg hunt. Entertainment was provided by Blues singer Trudy Lynn, Brian Jack and the Zydeco Gamblers, HAVIKORO break-dancing crew and a youth mariachi band. Others in attendance included State Rep. Sylvester Turner and Rachel Davis.
