Nurture Nature Tree Planting and Giveaway
Houston lost a real jewel of a human being when Dr. Polly Sparks Turner passed away. Her legacy will be felt in generations to come. She was such advocate children and education. In honor of her memory, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter held two events on Earth Day. The event was a tree giveaway at the Blue Triangle Community Center and the second event was planting tree at Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy. Both events were underwritten by the Astros Foundation. Also invited to plant trees were the participates of their Youth Leadership Institute and members of the Epsilon Lambda Chapter of the same sorority. Some in attendance were Staci Taylor Fullmighter, Paula McCann Harris, Charlotte K. Bryant, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, State Rep. Ron Reynolds, Jessica Brooks, Andrea Bonner, Donna Miles, Melanie Miles, Mary Barnett, and Lucy Bremond.
