The 2024 Equal Opportunity Day Gala, hosted by the Houston Area Urban League (HAUL) at the Hilton Americas on December 14, celebrated a night of purpose, empowerment, and progress. The evening raised over $1 million, marking a historic milestone in support of HAUL’s programs in housing, education, workforce development, health, and entrepreneurship. Honorees Steve Kean, Dr. Margaret Ford Fisher, and The Family of the Honorable Sheila Jackson Lee were recognized for their remarkable leadership and service. Attendees were treated to unforgettable performances by Grammy Award-winning artist Chrisette Michele and entertainer Cupid, whose energy brought guests to their feet. Led by Event Chairs Morris Smith and Myrtle Jones and supported by Title Sponsor Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, the gala embodied Houston’s collective commitment to equal opportunity and a brighter, more equitable future for all.
