The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) has truly outdone itself this year, not only in the tantalizing aroma of barbecue but also in a jubilant celebration that encapsulates the essence of Houston. With Houston First Corporation at the helm, the annual World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest was transformed into a microcosm reflecting the city's rich cultural tapestry, paying homage to the legendary Last Concert Café. This venerable Houston institution, celebrating its 75th anniversary, served as the thematic heartbeat of this year's Cook-Off. The presence of Houston Mayor John Whitmire, Houston First President Michael Heckman, and Metro Chairperson Elizabeth Brock underscored the event's significance to the city's social and cultural calendar. They were joined by luminaries from the realms of media and philanthropy, including Francis Page, Jr., and his wife Kristyn, Publisher of Houston Style Magazine, and Emillian and Kim Gagne-White, along with Sarah Freddie, who brought an added flair to the festivities.
