AKA Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter Celebrates 95th Anniversary
Photography by Andre Humphrey - The ladies of. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. ® Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter celebrated 95 years of service and sisterhood during a two-night celebratory weekend. During the gala, Mayor Sylvester Turner, 23rd South Central Regional Director Gwendolyn J. Brinkley; Winell Herron, H-E-B’s group vice president of public affairs, environmental affairs, and diversity & inclusion; June Deadrick, Director of State & Federal Relations (Government Affairs) for CenterPoint Energy; and Rev. William A. Lawson, Pastor Emeritus, Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church were honored. The Ernest Walker Band, Howard Hewett, and DJ Supa Star provided entertainment. Patricia A. Roberts and Regina Carrington served as General Chairman for the affair with Thedrial Jackson and Mary Barnett as General Co-Chairmen. Some in attendance were chapter president Staci Taylor Fullmighter, Sheila Jackson Lee, South Central Regional Director Joya T. Hayes, Gerald Womack, Jolanda Jones, Sharon Owens, and Dr. Marcus D. Cosby.
