Houston Rockets hold press conference to introduce Russell Westbrook

The “Brodie” era has officially begun in Houston. Russell Westbrook was introduced on Friday after being traded to Houston from the Oklahoma City Thunder for Chris Paul and two first-round picks in 2024 and 2026 with the rights to two first-round swaps in 2021 and 2025. The 2016-17 MVP was introduced by Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey who could hardly contain his excitement knowing that he had brokered a deal that could potentially bring the city of Houston another NBA championship.

This work marks the third project in Public Art UHS’s temporary public art program and the second site-specific Grove Commission developed for Wilhelmina’s Grove, a serene on-campus gathering space anchoring the UH Arts District. The Foundation for Jones Hall (FJH) announces renovation plans for Jones Hall, Houston’s iconic performing arts center, focused on significantly improving patron, musician and artist experiences. This renewal is designed to bring the building up to the highest standards in technology and operations, while incorporating modern amenities. Renovations, which range from state-of-the-art acoustical and infrastructure improvements to new, relocated restrooms; new, wider stairways; an expanded Green Room and lobby expansion/improvements, will continue over the coming summers and will build upon the first phase of renovations completed in 2020 and 2021.
