Dallas Cowboys Miles Austin supports DeMarco Murray Foundation

Dallas Cowboys Running Back DeMarco Murray along with teammates and celebrity friends traded in their uniforms and helmets for plates and aprons. Many enjoyed four courses of Kirby's signature cuisine, fine wine and an auction all in the name of a great cause. Proceeds benefited the DeMarco Murray Foundation, which is focused on bettering the lives of DFW-area youth by providing educational support, opportunities and resources. HISD to receive $300,000 in support of its new recycling program

Houston Independent School District will be presented with checks totaling $300,000 in funding from business leaders to expand access to recycling within the district. ExxonMobil, Lyondell Basell and Tricon Energy have partnered with HISD to support development of the program, which is scheduled to begin in April. An energetic recycling mascot will be on hand to get students excited about recycling and improving the quality of the community they live in.

Backpack Boosters collection drive to benefit 37,000 local students

Thirty-seven thousand deserving students will receive free school supplies to start the new year off right thanks to the efforts of Fox 26 Houston, Kroger, Powerade, Dasani, Eclipse, Orbit Gum, Coca Cola and Entercom (95.7 The Spot, Mix 96.5, Mega 101 FM, the Bull 100.3, CBS Sports Radio 640 AM and Sports 610 Radio). The organizations teamed up to execute the Backpack Boosters collection drive, which kicked off July 25 and ended August 7.

For the last two postseasons, the Houston Astros have had to deal with the fallout from the sign-stealing scandal they admitted to being a part of back in 2017. The absences of fans in the stands last season allowed the Astros to escape from the profanity-laced insults and hatred that continued throughout social media and airwaves across the country in other baseball cities.
