Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan obtained a court order on Friday shutting down Avani Lounge, an unlicensed bar in Southwest Houston. When Houston Police officers served the court order early Sunday morning, they found 600 patrons inside the bar with alcoholic drinks.

On Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at approximately 11:20 am, an electrocution incident involving a Houston Parks and Recreation Department employee occurred. The Houston Fire Department responded to an EMS call to Melrose Park, 1001 Canino Road. Upon arrival HFD found the employee to be deceased. An investigation regarding the incident is still underway.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston announces that the team from Houston Texans Teen Club was named the winner of the Building Industry Leaders (BIL) Urban Plan competition, a program of the Urban Land Institute and funded by a grant from retail electricity provider Reliant. Each of the five team members who created the winning case study received a $1,000 scholarship toward future education.
