Men Are Four Times As Likely to Commit Suicide. Why?
In 2020, according to the CDC, suicide took the lives of over 45,979 men, women, and children. That’s one death every 11 minutes. Not only is suicide an epidemic for the general population, it’s the third leading cause of death for boys and the 9th leading cause of death for all males. Women are 1.5 times more likely to attempt suicide than men, however men are still 4 times more likely to die as a result.

The Grammy® Award-winning Houston Chamber Choir, led by Robert Simpson, is back at Miller Outdoor Theatre for the first time since 2019 presenting “This Land Is Your Land” as the second performance of its 2022-2023 season. The concert on Saturday, Oct. 29 is free and open to the public at Houston’s iconic outdoor performance space in Hermann Park. The Choir missed 2020 and 2021 Miller Outdoor Theatre performances due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

OneStar Foundation recently announced that it has awarded $550,000 in funding to support Teach For America’s programs in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, the Rio Grande Valley, and San Antonio over the next three years.
