Your Ultimate Guide to Asian Restaurant Month: Explore Cuisines, Earn Points, and Win Prizes
The month of May is Asian American Pacific Islander Month (AAPI) Heritage Month and the Houston Asian Chamber of Commerce is celebrating their third annual Asian Restaurant Month in partnership with Houston First Corporation. This year the event has grown to more than one hundred restaurants to try during your journey through the ten plus ethnic cuisines to explore. From now until May 31st, you have the opportunity to take advantage of the Asian Restaurant Month digital pass, which offers not only a comprehensive directory of participating restaurants but also the ability to earn points and redeem them for exciting prizes by simply checking in at each location. With the pass easily downloadable on your phone, you can browse different cuisines using the filters or find restaurants that are conveniently located nearby. It's a great way to discover new dining experiences and have some fun along the way!

Broadway and Film Actress DeQuina Moore is a native Houstonian who is back in the city for Flashdance: the Musical playing at the Hobby Center starting June 4, 2013. She plays the sexy, sassy, scintillating "Kiki" in the 1980's hit movie turned musical "FLASHDANCE". DeQuina's powerhouse voice landed her the lead role of Kiki, a small-time club dancer "who's got a sassy step and a commanding, turn-men-to-stone voice". DeQuina was born and raised in Houston. She graduated from Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual ( HSPVA ) and trained at The Ensemble Theatre in their Young Performers Program. The Southwest Regional office of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF hosted the fourth annual UNICEF Audrey Hepburn® Society Ball to celebrate UNICEF’s lifesaving work for children around the world and honored the outstanding humanitarians who make our work possible. UNICEF Ambassador and actress Angie Harmon received the Spirit of Compassion Award for her commitment to saving and protecting the lives of children in the United States and around the world. Rosanette and Harry Cullen were presented with the Margaret Alkek Williams Humanitarian Award for their extraordinary contributions to the causes of children, health and education in the city of Houston and the state of Texas through the Cullen Foundation. Emceed by Deborah Duncan, host of Great Day Houston, the evening featured a live performance by Grammy Award®winning recording artist and humanitarian Michael Bolton and an appearance by Mayor Sylvester Turner. Funds raised at the event will support UNICEF’s work to end child trafficking in the United States and around the world.
