Doctoral Student Selected to Present Research in Hawaii
Tammy D. Lane, M.S., educational leadership doctoral candidate in the Whitlowe R. Green College of Education and the scholarship coordinator in the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, has been selected to present research in Hawaii. Based on a peer-reviewed process, her proposal submission, “Higher Education at the Intersection of Ethnicity/Race and Queerness at Minority Serving Institutions (MSIS)”, was accepted for presentation at the 16th Annual Hawaii International Conference on Education (HICE) to be held from January 4, 2018 to January 7, 2018 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort in Honolulu Hawaii. “HICE is coined as “the gathering place” due to the vast representation of educational leaders from countries around the world gathering to share a wealth of knowledge and perspectives,” said Lane.

An impressive 1.1 million dollars was raised at the annual Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ) Festival Gala, presented by BOVET 1822, held at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). Co-chaired by Natasha Koifman and Suzanne Boyd, the event was co-hosted by an influential team, including APJ Founder, Paul Haggis, Cuba Gooding Jr., Ben Stiller, Shantelle and Yannick Bisson, George Stroumboulopoulos and Audrey Raffy, daughter of BOVET 1822 owner Pascal Raffy. The event kicked off with a surprise for guests in attendance, when APJ CEO David Belle and Haggis called on notable attendees to join them in the spirit of social justice and activism to help serve the meal. All the co-hosts jumped up from their seats and proceeded to serve the guests.

Between September 4 and 7, 2018, Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court of the United States, will face a barrage of questioning before the Senate. Kavanaugh is a 12-year veteran of the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and was nominated to fill the vacancy left by Anthony Kennedy’s retirement. Kennedy, widely regarded as the Court’s “swing vote”, was often the deciding factor on whether the Court’s rulings were more favorable to conservative or liberal factions. "Sadly, all good parties must come to an end." This is the phrase that sets the tone for our first look at Entourage, the 2015 feature-length film based on the popular (but now defunct) HBO series. It’s a meta start for the trailer, essentially starting with a trailer for a separate, fictional film starring Adrian Grenier’s Vincent Chase. And it looks like it’s going to be some type of sci-fi/superhero/action/kung-fu hybrid before the "trailer" is paused and we can get to the meat of the tease for this movie… namely, Jeremy Piven’s award-winning portrayal of frustrated super-agent Ari Gold yelling at Chase and his crew for screwing up. Again. The first trailer for the Entourage film boasts all of the things that fans loved about the old television show. It offers an unprecedented look behind the scenes of modern Hollywood, dabbling in disputes waged between talent, and the power-brokers who let actors and directors live the lifestyles of the rich and famous. At the same time, it swims in all of the perks that come with Chase’s success – hence, him needing an entourage in the first place.
