Voting and Civil Rights Organizations File Suit Over Florida’s Flawed Voter Registration Form
Omissions put thousands of Floridians with past criminal convictions at risk of criminal prosecution
The League of Women Voters of Florida and the Florida State Conference of the NAACP filed suit in federal court today against Florida’s secretary of state, charging that the state’s voter registration application violates the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA). The civil rights organizations allege that the form’s lack of information about the voter eligibility requirements for Floridians with past convictions creates confusion, impedes the organizations’ voter registration activities, and puts people in danger of criminal penalties.

Houston native serves aboard U.S. Navy’s East Coast Master Jet Base
Airman Hunter Fahy, a native of Houston, Texas, serves the U.S. Navy assigned to Naval Air Station Oceana. Fahy joined the Navy two years ago. “I come from a military family, so I grew up wanting to serve my country,” said Fahy. “My dad, grandpa, great grandpa, uncles and cousins have all served. I wanted to do my part to protect and defend our nation as well."

The September 6th, event honored philanthropist Margaret Alkek Williams, First U.S. Recipient. Emcee Jesse Metcalfe told HSM why he decided to become part of the UNICEF Foundation. After congratulating Margaret Alkek Williams for her extraordinary dedication and her award recognition HSM asked her why she picked UNICEF as her charity of choice, she whispered "for the kids, I did it for the kids." The legendary and late Audrey Hepburn's son Sean Hepburn Ferrer englightened HSM on how his mother instilled in the hearts and minds all over the world a passion for UNICEF.
