Rachel Dolezal, the former NAACP leader from Spokane, Washington who pretended to be Black although she is really white, says in her new book that her first marriage to an African American man ended because she was “too black” for him. Her new book is entitled In Full Color: Finding My Place in a Black and White World, and it discusses how she always wanted to be black – even when she was just a kid.

Houston – In a mega four-team trade that included 12-players, the Houston Rockets have parted ways with center Clint Capela, forward Gerald Green, and back-up center Nene’. The Rockets acquired forwards Robert Covington and Jordan Bell from the Minnesota Timberwolves along with the Atlanta Hawks 2024 second-round pick via the Golden State Warriors.

Houston Parks and Recreation Department Utilizes Goats to Assist with Habitat Restoration

The Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD) is hosting a herd of over 150 goats at FM Law Park to assist with habitat restoration. The goats are being used to remove unwanted vegetation in the forested area of the park where the Parks and Recreation Department is implementing a habitat restoration project.

Mayor Sylvester Turner and Houston Public Library (HPL) announce a new citywide reading program: One Houston, One Book: Diverse Stories for a Diverse City. This new program highlights stories that celebrate our diverse backgrounds and experiences. Featured books are aimed at readers’ interest by age; they include Yangsook Choi’s “The Name Jar,” now considered a children’s literature classic; “Punching the Air,” a novel in verse for teens, by Ebi Zoboi and Dr. Yusef Salaam; and a memoir, “Once I Was You,” by award-winning journalist Maria Hinojosa.
