Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated have been caretakers of their community. In the Houston area, the members of the Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter have been addressing the needs and issues of their surrounding area for 90 years making lasting impacts that affect the lives of individuals and families. Now the ladies are celebrating the legacy of their sisterhood and their service to Houston with a four-month celebration of activities leading to the grand finale, the 90th Anniversary Gala on December 15th.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Welcomes Nearly 20,000 Members to Houston July 6-12 for Biennial Conference

Nearly 20,000 members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® (AKA) – from all over the world – will converge on Houston from July 6-12 for its biennial conference. Led by International President Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson, L.H.D., attendees will engage in service projects as well as leadership training and development. The conference will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRBCC), as well as several hotels. Members from as far away as Germany, Japan, South Korea, Liberia, South Africa and the Middle East are expected to attend.

Houston City Council Member Dave Martin is excited to announce that on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, Kingwood will host, for the very first time, the Houston Zoo's ZooMobile at the July 4th Festival at Town Center Park, located at 8 Main Street Kingwood Town Center, Kingwood, Texas 77339. The Town Center Park activities will begin at 2:00 p.m., however the Houston Zoo's ZooMobile will not arrive until 4:30 p.m. with an expected departure time of 6:30 p.m.
