The Mark of History Scars Tulsa

Memorial Day marks one year since the murder of George Floyd by the hands of the Minneapolis police. This week also marks the 100-year anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre - a brutal government-aided leveling of a prosperous African American community for which there still has been no accounting and no justice. Few even know about the massacre. It hasn't even been taught in the Tulsa public schools until this year. Although 100 years old, the massacre poses questions of justice and of decency that America cannot avoid.

The rate of teen drug overdose deaths in the United States climbed 19% from 2014 to 2015, from 3.1 deaths per 100,000 teens to 3.7 per 100,000, according to data released this week. The new numbers involve teens ages 15 to 19 and were released by the National Center for Health Statistics.

Going Camping: Houston Texans Open 2017 Training Camp in West Virginia

The Houston Texans started training camp in unfamiliar territory. The franchise decided to hold the majority of their 2017 camp at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia and it will be the first time in franchise history (15 years) that training camp will be held outside the city of Houston. There will be a total of fifteen training camp practice sessions that the residents of White Sulphur Springs can attend to see the reigning 2016 AFC South Champions. The Aug. 15 – 16 sessions will be joint practices with the Super Bowl Champions New England Patriots.
