Texas Bikers Raise $28,000 to Fund Breast Cancer Healthcare for Women in Need

Motorcycle-lovers from all across Houston came out in droves to support The 10th Annual Bikers Against Breast Cancer (BABC) event held on Saturday, May 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the San Jacinto Harley Davidson store located at 3636 E. Sam Houston Parkway South, Pasadena, TX 77505. This empowering 60-mile ride over the Fred Hartman bridge raised funds for The Rose, the leading breast healthcare nonprofit in Southeast Texas, to honor those who have faced the disease and to make life-saving services possible for more women.

H-E-B presents Juneteenth Heritage Celebration at Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site

On the 19th of June 1865, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston and made a declaration of freedom ending the bondage of approximately 250,000 enslaved men, women and children in Texas. Since that time, Juneteenth has been celebrated and remembered by picnics, parades, family reunions, pageants, barbecues and games. The Brazos Valley has a rich history in celebrating Juneteenth, including the Juneteenth parade in Brenham, TX, which began in the early 1870s and continues to this day.

2018 Houston Homeless Count Results Reflect Hurricane Harvey Impact

The Way Home system has permanently housed more than 14,500 individuals since 2012, including Veterans and individuals experiencing chronic homelessness

The Coalition for the Homeless announced results for the Point-In-Time Homeless Count & Survey, which took place January 23-25, 2018 on behalf of the local Continuum of Care (CoC), known as The Way Home. The annual Count provides a snapshot of the state of homelessness in the Houston area on a given night and is a requirement of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for The Way Home’s federal funding process. The Way Home CoC encompasses Houston, Pasadena, Harris County, Fort Bend County, and Montgomery County.
