BET Networks Chairman and CEO Debra L. Lee, and Hip-Hop artist Nelly, co-hosted the annual, elegant PRE dinner event in celebration sponsored by Cadillac.

2013 Chevrolet Equinox LTZ "Wheels To-Go" Auto Review w/ Reggie Dominique
Check out Houston Style Magazine's "Wheels To-Go" segment where we feature The 2013 Chevrolet Equinox LTZ! The 2013 Chevrolet Equinox receives an all-new V6 engine option, offering more power with equal fuel economy compared with the V6 it replaces. The four-cylinder model remains unchanged, and it still retains one of the best fuel economy figures in the class. V6 models also receive some suspension updates for 2013, and test drivers say the changes give the Equinox a more buttoned-down feel on the road. One of the highlights of the Equinox is its cabin, which is spacious, comfortable and well-assembled. While the five-seat Equinox doesn't have the largest cargo area in the class, they appreciate the flexibility of the sliding second row, which can be moved forward to accommodate more cargo or back to make taller passengers more comfortable. Check out Houston Style Magazine's "Wheels To-Go" segment where we feature The 2013 Chevrolet Volt! The 2013 Chevrolet Volt gets a number of worthwhile upgrades. A new "Hold" mode makes it possible to save all-electric operation for times when it's most efficient to do so. A new Low Emissions package grants the Volt access to HOV lanes in California and New York. New options include a center rear armrest and forward collision and lane departure warning systems. In some ways, it's actually better than an electric car. The Volt belongs to a new class of environmentally-friendly models known as plug-in hybrids. In simple terms, a plug-in hybrid runs on pure electric power for a given distance, then switches over to a gasoline-electric powertrain similar to that of regular hybrids. Miss Black Texas USA 2013, Dymond Hayes Red Carpet talk @ HSM Trendspotter Event!
Dymond Hayes proved that the third time is charmed when she captured the title of Miss Black Texas USA 2013. The 21-year-old is a graduating senior at Spelman College with majoring in political science. Her ultimate goal is to an open a non-profit that benefits women with terminally ill diseases, and to work in corporate America within the governmental affairs and strategic sourcing departments. During her reign, she will promote her platform entitled "Make the Impact of a Lifetime through Breast Cancer Awareness and Early Detection!" Having lost a grandmother to breast cancer and with her mother's 2003 breast cancer diagnosis, it is highly likely that Dymond will be diagnosis with breast cancer at some point in her life.

Miss Black Texas USA Talented Teen, Chandler Foreman
Chandler Foreman received the surprise of her life when she was named Miss Black Texas USA Talented Teen 2013. In her very first pageant, she stole the hearts' of the judges and the coveted title. The 15-year-old is a sophomore at Manvel High School. Being amongst her high school peers allowed Chandler to see how decisions that teens make affect their future goals and dreams for the good or the bad. Wanting more for the next generations, Chandler started implementing her platform C.H.A.N., an acronym that stands for Choosing Happily Abstaining Naturally. Through C.H.A.N. Chandler encourages preteens to abstain from any behaviors and activities that could negatively impact their future.

The Bureau of Public Health Preparedness (PHP) exists to build infrastructure to help the City respond to public health disasters through planning, outreach, training, exercise and response. Congressman Al Green shares how important it is to have a plan for what you and your family will do in an emergency. Consider how you will communicate with each other, where you will meet, and who you can leave messages with out-of-state if you can't reach people locally. Check out Houston Style Magazine's "Wheels To-Go" segment where we feature The 2013 Cadillac XTS! Ranking 13 out of 15 Luxury Large Cars the Cadillac XTS says reliability and safety. The XTS is powered by the latest iteration of GM's 3.6-liter V-6. Referred to by the LFX engine code, the mill makes 300 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque in the Caddy. The only transmission available is a six-speed automatic, and also like the big Buick, the XTS will offer a Haldex-based all-wheel-drive system. Front-wheel drive is standard. Saturday, May 18th marked the 6th Annual Women's Empowerment Conference (AWEC) hosted by founder Shantera Chatman at the prestigious Houstonian Hotel. The cozy ballroom was transformed into an atmosphere where over 180 women from various backgrounds, ethnicities, and careers were able to network, empower, and inspire one another while learning how to "Launch Her" in 2013. Michael Strahan Interviews w/Rebecca Briscoe of HSM During TSU Spring 2013 Commencement
The campus of Texas Southern University was all abuzz after learning that the university's Board of Regents unanimously agreed to award the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters to one of its top alumni. Super Bowl Champion, businessman, and broadcaster Michael Strahan was honored with the university's highest honor, the doctorate degree at Spring Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 11th. This special moment occurred at the campus Health and PE Arena with over 10,000 in attendance! Houston Style Magazine's Rebecca Briscoe learned that Dr. John Rudley, university president, made a special trip to New York recently to officially make the offer to Strahan. While there and visiting the set of LIVE with Kelly and Michael, Rudley witnessed in person Strahan's magnetic personality and huge presence on and off the stage. Rudley was accompanied on the trip by Eva Pickens, TSU's Associate Vice President of Communications and Community Relations. Please check the video here for the "inside scoop."
