SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS From New Line Cinema comes “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” which continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word “SHAZAM!,” is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam. “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” stars returning cast members Zachary Levi (“Thor: Ragnarok”) as Shazam; Asher Angel (“Andi Mack”) as Billy Batson; Jack Dylan Grazer (“It Chapter Two”) as Freddy Freeman; Adam Brody (“Promising Young Woman”) as Super Hero Freddy; Ross Butler (“Raya and the Last Dragon”) as Super Hero Eugene; Meagan Good (“Day Shift”) as Super Hero Darla; D.J. Cotrona (“G.I. Joe: Retaliation”) as Super Hero Pedro; Grace Caroline Currey (“Annabelle: Creation”) as Mary Bromfield / Super Hero Mary; Faithe Herman (“This Is Us”) as Darla Dudley; Ian Chen (“A Dog’s Journey”) as Eugene Choi; Jovan Armand (“Second Chances”) as Pedro Pena; Marta Milans (“White Lines”) as Rosa Vasquez; Cooper Andrews (“The Walking Dead”) as Victor Vasquez; with Djimon Hounsou (“A Quiet Place Part II”) as Wizard. Joining the cast are Rachel Zegler (“West Side Story”), with Lucy Liu (“Kung Fu Panda” franchise) and Helen Mirren (“F9: The Fast Saga”). The film is directed by David F. Sandberg (“Shazam!,” “Annabelle: Creation”) and produced by Peter Safran (“Aquaman,” “The Suicide Squad”). It is written by Henry Gayden (“Shazam!,” “There’s Someone Inside Your House”) and Chris Morgan (“Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw,” “The Fate of the Furious”), based on characters from DC; Shazam! was created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck. Executive producers are Walter Hamada, Adam Schlagman, Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Victoria Palmeri, Marcus Viscidi and Geoff Johns. Joining director Sandberg behind-the-camera are director of photography Gyula Pados (the “Jumanji” franchise), production designer Paul Kirby (“The Old Guard,” “Jason Bourne”) and editor Michel Aller (“Shazam!,” “The Nun”). The music supervisor is Season Kent (“DC League of Super-Pets,” “The Addams Family 2”) and the music is by Christophe Beck (“Free Guy,” “Frozen II”). Visual effects supervisors are Bruce Jones (“Aquaman,” “It”) and Raymond Chen (“Alita: Battle Angel,” “The Meg”). The costume designer is Louise Mingenbach (“Jumanji: The Next Level,” “Godzilla: King of the Monsters”). New Line Cinema presents A Peter Safran Production of A David F. Sandberg Film, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” which is set to open in theaters internationally beginning 15 March 2023 and in North America on March 17, 2023.
"Show Love" Lyric Video
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday, the Otis Redding Foundation is releasing a new song, “Show Love,” written and produced by students ages 12-18 , who attended the Otis Music Camp at the height of the pandemic in 2020. The song is based on a sermon “Loving Your Enemies” which Dr. King delivered at Dexter Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL on November 17, 1957, and includes a live excerpt of the sermon. Dexter Baptist Church is a designated a historic landmark and boasts significant African American history since its opening in 1887. Much of Montgomery’s early civil rights activity, most famously the 1956 Bus Boycott, was directed by Dr. King from his office in the lower level of the church. “We are always proud of the students who participate in the music camps that the Otis Redding Foundation offers each year,” stated Karla Redding-Andrews, Vice-President, Executive Director.” “This song was recorded during the 2020 pandemic in the virtual Otis Music Camp, OMC 2.0, using Soundtrap by Spotify Digital audio workstation. It represents the love and respect these young people have for Dr. King during the height of the “pandemic,” a word they had never heard before.” The young people who wrote and performed “Show Love” are Sharina Cody, Daylen Clowers, Trevor Hudson, Ella Smith, Jayden Tolbert, and produced by Saxton Keitt, Isaac Gibson and Reese Soul.

A Mexican immigrant and domestic violence survivor, Maria has overcome adversities that have driven her to advocate for safe spaces in underserved communities. She founded Madres del Parque (“Mothers of the Park”) to bring about true transformation and local environmental sustainability in the most densely populated and diverse area of Houston that notably lacks green space. Because of her advocacy, Harris County Commissioners Court initiated a contract for a master plan design for Burnett Bayland Park, located in Southwest Houston’s Gulfton community.

Sid’s mantra is “do more for others than you do for yourself”. He’s known for his optimism, ability to forge strong partnerships, and roll up his sleeves to work side by side with his peers in addressing the most critical issues for youth in marginalized communities. Drawing inspiration from his role model, his father, Sid has become an ally, an advocate and champion for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at work and in the community — most recently as an executive board member at the YMCA of Greater Houston. Under his board leadership, the Y’s first computer lab was established and eventually became the foundation for its path in bridging the digital divide.

Lucy grew up knowing the importance and responsibility of helping others in her community. She volunteers with several Houston area organizations — one of which is The Blue Triangle. The organization’s mission is to provide a safe environment for children, youth, and adults to meet, learn and recreate. When the Blue Triangle building, which is a Texas historical landmark and Houston’s oldest community centers, was damaged by Hurricane Harvey, Lucy was instrumental in making sure it was renovated and preserved so that future generations in the Third Ward can thrive.
