Meagan Good and Ariana Madix Star in Buying Back My Daughter. When Dana (Meagan Good) and Curtis' (Roger Cross) 16-year-old daughter, Alicia (Faith Wright), sneaks out of the house to attend a party, a bout with teenage rebellion quickly escalates into a widespread search party spearheaded by Dana and the police. After almost a year of searching for her missing daughter, mother's intuition leads Dana to the salacious world of online escort ads where, to her horror, she finds her Alicia listed for sale. Dana and Curtis spring into action and attempt to “buy their daughter back” in order to rescue her from the trafficker who abducted Alicia and subjected her to unspeakable harm. Ariana Madix stars as Karen, a police officer who helps investigate the case and has a personal connection to the story. Buying Back My Daughter premieres Saturday, October 7 at 8p/7c on Lifetime. Dragon Blade Trailer
Written and directed by Daniel Lee, Dragon Blade is set in China in the year 48 BC. Jackie Chan plays Huo An, a commander with a 1,000-soldier army who teams up with a Roman general named Lucius (John Cusack) to try and protect the borders of China from external invaders. Unfortunately, the blood-thirsty Tiberius (Adrien Brody) has a score to settle with Lucius, and heads his direction with an army of 100,000. I'm sure that part of it has to do with the fact that this trailer (via Webzine Check) feels like it was hastily cut together, but I can't say that I have a tremendous amount of confidence in the quality of Dragon Blade. There are scenes clearly set against fake backdrops, a bit of over-dramatic screaming, a good amount of stilted dialogue, and worst of all I'm just having a really hard time seeing John Cusack as a Roman soldier. Of course, this is just a preview and the final product could be miles and miles better, but this really isn't doing much to give me confidence.

Last night, singer, actor, songwriter and social media influencer Jade Novah and comedian Affion Crockett impersonated Beyoncé and Jay-Z on a joint Instagram Live, “If Beyoncé and & Jay-Z Were Quarantined Separately.” Expanding her advocacy efforts, Novah teamed up with Global Citizen as part of the #TogetherAtHome initiative to raise funds for the World Health Organization, Tuesday, April 2nd, in a live stream performance. Novah continues to make headlines as she adheres to the “Stay-At-Home” order. Last month, she uploaded a Tik Tok video where she delivers tips on “How to slay coronavirus free” in her famous Beyoncé impression, in order to spread some cheer during this time. It has already clocked over 286K views and counting. Watch it HERE. She additionally hosted an “Off Stage and Online” livestream performance via Instagram Live, Facebook and YouTube, where viewers donated funds via CashApp to benefit Atlanta startup Goodr, which provides meals to children in Atlanta due to school closures.

Premiere boxing is making a hard hitting comeback to Houston. This past Saturday, over two thousand spectators made their way to the Arabia Shrine Center to enjoy ten match ups with some of Houston’s own boxing elite. This highly anticipated “Fight Night Six” was hosted by G & M Boxing Promotions. While the boxers were warmed up backstage Houston Style was able to speak with hometown favorite and undefeated super welter weight boxer Devante “Boogyman” Williams, who was beyond excited to go in the ring and annihilate his opponent.

Surprise Squad Pampers New Caney Beauty Queen Overcoming Adversity
Esmeralda Tristan has endured more than most teenagers her age, yet she continues to strut through life and adversities with positivity. The 17-year-old from New Caney was enjoying the day at an ATV park with friends on April 15th when they were hit by another ATV. One of Tristan’s friends was pinned under the vehicle while another died. Tristan lost her right hand and suffered a neck fracture.
UST Rising Stars Internship Program
University of St. Thomas-Houston (UST) and Houston Community College (HCC) have teamed up to offer students an opportunity to start their college career at HCC and smoothly transfer to UST’s Rising Stars Internship Program. UST President Richard Ludwick and HCC Chancellor Cesar Maldonado formalized the articulation agreement on UST’s campus during a signing ceremony on Monday, Aug. 28.
