2016 marks 38 years of the Houston LGBT Pride Celebration®, the OFFICIAL Pride of Houston. It was held in DOWNTOWN HOUSTON with the Honorary Grand Marshal, Imran Yusuf was presented, along with a rainbow flag honoring the Orlando victims. Houston Police Running Man Challenge There is no ticket required to see the Houston Police Department's answer to the #RunningManChallenge. This video, which is sweeping through police agencies across the United States and internationally, typically showcases a police department's assets, personnel and dancing skills. HPD officers throughout the department dusted off their dance moves to participate in this video and included officers of all ranks and ages, including Acting Chief of Police Martha I. Montalvo. Special thanks go to Mayor Sylvester Turner, Councilmember Dwight Boykins, the Houston Astros, Space Center Houston and rapper Bun B, who all made special appearances. Fight Night SIX 2016
Premiere boxing is making a hard hitting comeback to Houston. This past Saturday, over two thousand spectators made their way to the Arabia Shrine Center to enjoy ten match ups with some of Houston’s own boxing elite. This highly anticipated “Fight Night Six” was hosted by G & M Boxing Promotions. While the boxers were warmed up backstage Houston Style was able to speak with hometown favorite and undefeated super welter weight boxer Devante “Boogyman” Williams, who was beyond excited to go in the ring and annihilate his opponent.

Stop The Silence 5K with Mayor Sylvester Turner
Sisters Network® Inc hosted the 7th National African American Breast Cancer 5K Walk /Run in Downtown Houston, Texas at Discovery Green Park on April 16th 2016. Funds raised from Stop the Silence® will benefit Sisters Network® Inc. Breast Cancer Assistance Program (BCAP), which provides assistance to women facing financial challenges after breast cancer diagnosis. This program offers financial assistance for mammograms, medical related lodging, co-pay; office visits, prescriptions, and transportation.

Real Role Models Gala with Anthony Anderson
The William A. Lawson Institute for Peace & Prosperity (WALIPP) and the Houston Association of Black Journalists (HABJ) presents "The Real Role Models" Gala, honoring community leaders, students and media professionals. The evening aimed to reflect positive role models in multiple areas, celebrating journalists, non-profit leaders and scholars. Proceeds from this year’s gala will benefit both WALIPP and HABJ. Funds raised from the event will allow the Lawson Academy to expand its facility. They will also enable HABJ to provide professional development, honor excellence in journalism and cultivate young journalists to enter the professional world of media through various outreach programs. HABJ will allot $20,000 in scholarships to deserving college students majoring in the media and communications field.
