Saturday, May 18th marked the 6th Annual Women's Empowerment Conference (AWEC) hosted by founder Shantera Chatman at the prestigious Houstonian Hotel. The cozy ballroom was transformed into an atmosphere where over 180 women from various backgrounds, ethnicities, and careers were able to network, empower, and inspire one another while learning how to "Launch Her" in 2013. Michael Strahan Interviews w/Rebecca Briscoe of HSM During TSU Spring 2013 Commencement
The campus of Texas Southern University was all abuzz after learning that the university's Board of Regents unanimously agreed to award the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters to one of its top alumni. Super Bowl Champion, businessman, and broadcaster Michael Strahan was honored with the university's highest honor, the doctorate degree at Spring Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 11th. This special moment occurred at the campus Health and PE Arena with over 10,000 in attendance! Houston Style Magazine's Rebecca Briscoe learned that Dr. John Rudley, university president, made a special trip to New York recently to officially make the offer to Strahan. While there and visiting the set of LIVE with Kelly and Michael, Rudley witnessed in person Strahan's magnetic personality and huge presence on and off the stage. Rudley was accompanied on the trip by Eva Pickens, TSU's Associate Vice President of Communications and Community Relations. Please check the video here for the "inside scoop."
