High Praise: Houston Baseball Writers Association Announce Annual Awards
The accolades just keep coming for 2017 Major League Baseball World Champions, Houston Astros. On December 19, 2017, the Houston Chapter of Baseball Writers Association of America announced their annual awards for the 2017 season. Amongst those winners were:
Bitter Sweet: Texans Defeat the Titans to Extend Winning Streak to 8 and Remember the Life of Owner Bob McNair
Even though the weather outside of NRG stadium was a frigid 50 degrees and before you begin to laugh, that is very cold for a city that is used to 75 degrees with humidity added. Inside the stadium was blazing with one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now. The Houston Texans defeated the Tennessee Titans 34-17 to extend their winning streak to 8 games. They also completed the first game of a three game homestand (Browns, Colts).
Gerald Green Retires From The NBA And Joins Rockets Coaching Staff
“Some things in life you have to learn to close one chapter and open up another,” said Green. “I would like to thank Tillman and Patrick [Fertitta] for this opportunity. With that being said, I will be retiring from the game of basketball and joining the Houston Rockets coaching staff. I could not be more excited about it.
Astros Place Justin Verlander On the 10-day Injured List
Astros No. 1 starter, Justin Verlander was placed on the 10-day IL list with a right-arm forearm strain according to Houston Astros communication department. Astros manager Dusty Baker said that Verlander will not throw for two weeks and will be reevaluated at that time.
Short-Handed Rockets Fall To Bucks 141-133
No matter what team you root for in the NBA, you have to look at the Houston Rockets and imagine what the future holds for them if they are fully healthy next season. They compete at a high level against their opponents, all the while only having eight available players and most of the time two of them would still be on the injured list if the team had a full roster.
Houston Texans And Partners Launch $400,000 Grant To Support Social Justice And Racial Equity Initiatives In Houston
The Houston Texans, ConocoPhillips, Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages and Miller Lite are proud to announce the Inspire Change Grant, which will fund programs, seed projects and create partnerships that support social justice and racial equity efforts in Houston.
Astros Outfielder Heads To The IL
The Astros got some bad news on Friday as the team learned that OF Michael Brantley was headed to the 10-day Injured List due to tightness in his right hamstring. His stint was retroactive to May 25.
Astros Lose Power Hitting DH Yordan Alvarez for the Rest of the Season
The Houston Astros were dealt a real big blow to their chances of a repeat run to the World Series. On Wednesday, Houston was given the news that reigning 2019 American League Rookie of the Year Yordan Alvarez is out for the remainder of the season with a partially torn patellar tendon in his right knee.
Rockets Look To Avoid Their 20th Consecutive Loss On Sunday Against The Thunder
If you watched the Houston Rockets on Friday in the 113-100 loss to the Detroit Pistons, you could see why some consider them the perfect conundrum. Even with losing their franchise high 19th game in a row, many fans still support them and can find more positives in the loss than negatives.
Astros get a big pop back in their lineup with the return of 2019 A.L. ROY Yordan Alvarez
Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker finally caught a huge break on Friday. With his team currently under .500 at 8-10, a record some could attribute to the rash of injuries they have suffered through in the first part of a shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Baker is getting a big bat back in the Astros lineup that will add more firepower to an already explosive offense.
Rockets Young Guns Put On A Show In Las Vegas Summer League
If I had to take an educated guest, I would say that at some point during the game of the Houston Rockets against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday that Rockets head coach Stephen Silas turned to general manager Rafael Stone and gave him a fist bump of approval for his selections in the 2021 NBA Draft.
“For The H”
Houston Roughnecks begin their 2020 XFL season on Saturday at TDECU Stadium
It has been almost a month since the Texans lost in the divisional round to the eventual Super Bowl champions, Kansas City Chiefs. Normally it would take a complete cycle of OTA’s and training camp for the football fans in Houston to get over the loss. Most fans would start looking over the list of free agents that would be available and hoping that new general manager and head coach Bill O’Brien would bring in players to improve the team. Anything to help pass the time until the first game of the 2020 NFL season.

Houston Rockets Chief Executive Officer Thaddeus “Tad” Brown today announced he will transition from his role at the end of the season. Brown originally joined the Rockets as their Vice President of Corporate Development for the 2002-03 season and was named CEO in October of 2006.
Starting Over

One day after losing another heartbreaker in San Diego. The Houston Astros (16-13) bounced back to take game 1 of the four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels (9-21) at Minute Maid Park. Help Is On The Way
Now I don’t know how spiritual Rockets Head Coach Stephen Silas is, but if I have to take an educated guess, I will say that he has done some praying in his alone time or maybe even on the bench during this current 18-game losing streak which is also a franchise record.
