Houston Rockets hold press conference to introduce Russell Westbrook
The “Brodie” era has officially begun in Houston. Russell Westbrook was introduced on Friday after being traded to Houston from the Oklahoma City Thunder for Chris Paul and two first-round picks in 2024 and 2026 with the rights to two first-round swaps in 2021 and 2025. The 2016-17 MVP was introduced by Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey who could hardly contain his excitement knowing that he had brokered a deal that could potentially bring the city of Houston another NBA championship.
Astros Rookie Jeremy Peña Has "Mamba Mentality" In His Approach To The 2022 Postseason
As the press conference was ending, Peña was asked a question about his outlook on being up 2-0 in the series over the Mariners and headed to play two games in Seattle. He channeled the energy and emotions of one of his favorite athletes of all time in the late NBA Hall of Fame Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant.
Tucker Named AL Player Of The Month For Sept-Oct
On Monday, Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker was named the American League Player of the Month for September-October. It is the first Player of the Month award of his career, and he became the first Astros player to win it since third baseman Alex Bregman won it back in August of 2019.

Thanksgiving came a little late this year in the city of Houston. Even though families gathered on November 28th to celebrate the holiday, fans in Houston gathered on the 1st of December to show their appreciation and thanks to the Houston Texans. The team reciprocated that love by defeating the reigning Super Bowl Champions, New England Patriots 28-22 in a prime-time Sunday night game played on NBC at NRG Stadium in front of a crowd of over 72,000 people in attendance.

Music blaring amongst the loud chatter, I just knew something special was going but it wasn’t until the crowd disbursed that finally, right there sitting in the center of the circle, was none other than the unbeaten Interim WBC Middleweight Champion Jermall Charlo; the man responsible for all of the enthusiastic presence inside of Kinetix.
Rockets fall to the Wizards in John Wall’s return to D.C.
Monday night was not the return home visit that John Wall envisioned when he circled the game against the Washington Wizards in D.C. on the schedule. Wall, who was traded this past offseason to the Rockets for Russell Westbrook and a first-round pick did everything he could to keep his injury riddled team afloat by scoring 29 points and dishing out 11 assists. But in the end, it wasn’t enough as Houston (11-16) lost to Washington (8-17) by a score of 131-119.

Anyone who has watched the Houston Rockets can tell who the #1 player on the court is for them, James Harden. There is no debating that when it comes to talent and leadership, Harden is the man. But there is another player on the court who displays those same qualities and could be clearly seen as #2 when it comes to leadership. Ironically, #2 is his jersey number as well. Houston Rockets’ guard Patrick Beverly brings pure grit and determination as soon as he laces up his sneakers.

This past Sunday the Houston Texans had victory ripped right out of their hands as they lost to an AFC South divisional foe and undefeated team in the Tennessee Titans by a score of 42-36 in overtime in Nashville. Houston is now 1-1 under interim head coach Romeo Crennel after the Texans fired former head coach and general manager, Bill O’ Brien.

With 16.2 seconds left on the clock in Sunday’s matchup between the Houston Rockets and Milwaukee Bucks, the reigning 2019 NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounpo found himself with an opportunity to take advantage of a statement he made earlier this year about former 2018 MVP James Harden. During a press conference after the 2020 NBA All-Star game, Antetokounpo said his team’s defensive scheme towards the end of the game was, to get the ball to whoever James Harden was guarding.

Most fans in Houston were expecting some bumps in the road to start the 2019-20 season when the Rockets acquired former NBA MVP and energizer bunny, Russell Westbrook, this past offseason via trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Houston had endured that form of misery when they acquired future NBA Hall of Famer, Chris Paul two seasons ago from the Los Angeles Clippers. Last season they were counted out by the national media when at one point they dwelled at the bottom of the Western Conference before James Harden turned their season around with a plethora of 50-point scoring performances.

Major League Baseball announced the 2021 All-Star Game reserves on Sunday and once again the hometown team will be well represented in Denver on Tuesday July 13, 2021. Carlos Correa (shortstop), Jose Altuve (second base), Ryan Pressly (reliever) and Michael Brantley (outfield) was selected to play for the American League.
Rockets Josh Christopher Plays The Role Of 'Unsung Hero' In Victory Over The Lakers
The average fan may have missed the play of rookie guard Josh Christoper. The “Unsung Hero” kept Houston in the game by scoring 12 points and pulling down five rebounds in the second quarter shooting 71 percent from the field on his way to a 21-point night.
Rockets drop ninth straight game in Cleveland
As human beings, sometimes our emotions can get the best of us. On Wednesday night they finally caught up to Houston Rockets head coach Stephen Silas after he watched his team drop their ninth straight game losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers 112 – 96. "Our defense wasn't good, and our offense was disjointed," Silas said lacking his normal positive and upbeat tone. "It wasn't very good all around."

With a roster consisting of three-point specialists Eric Gordon, Armoni Brooks, and Garrison Mathews, forward/center Christian Wood has been a very efficient shooter from deep during the winning streak. He has made 14 out of the 25 three-pointers attempted and shot 83 percent (5 out of 6) on Sunday against the Pelicans.

Astros win home opener against the Mariners 8-2
The crowd size may have changed, but the results are still the same. After having the season delayed for nearly three months due to COVID-19, the Houston Astros (1-0) finally opened their 2020 MLB season with a win over division foe Seattle Mariners (0-1) by a score of 8-2. The victory tonight makes the Astros 19-1 in the last 20 games dating back to last season and 11-0 in Minute Maid Park against the Mariners.

On Tuesday night the Houston Astros (6-4) defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks (3-8) by a score of 8-2. Some will look at the score and think it was a blowout victory by the Astros, but there was a lot of details and improvements by Houston that is starting to show. They are getting that three consecutive 100-plus win seasons glow about them again.

Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) has announced the hiring of Dr. Donald Reed as its new Director of Athletics. He will begin his official duties starting July 15, 2020, and will replace interim Associate Athletic Director Alicia Pete, who has served in the role after former AD Fred Washington resigned in August 2019 for personal reasons.
