A Major League Winning Streak
Astros defeat the Mariners to win third game in a row
One of my favorite movies of all-times is Major League II, staring Omar Epps, Charlie Sheen, and James Gammon who played the manager of the Cleveland Indians.
All Good Things Must Come to An End
Colts defeat the Texans 24 - 21 to break the 9-game winning streak
I will never forget my senior year on the varsity football team. We won our first three games of the season and we were on a natural high. After ten years of being bad, our high school was finally seeing success on the football field. And then it happened. In the fourth game of the season, we were finally brought back to earth. We lost, but I will never forget the first words uttered by my coach. “All good things must come to an end,” said our coach as he gazed into the eyes of young men who just had their hearts broken.
The Astros Deserve More National Attention. Why Hasn't It Happened?
Suppose pitching and Player of the Month honors don’t warrant the Astros being seen by their fans outside of Texas. Does winning games move the needle?
Around The Bases: Astros Sweep Three-Game Series Against The Mariners
Home Plate: Mr. 2,000 Manager Dusty Baker joined an elite club on Tuesday. He became the 12th manager in Major League history to win 2,000 games in his career. He also is the first African American to reach that accomplishment.
The Test Of A Man NFL Regional Combine-Houston, Texas
I walked into the NRG practice facility for the NFL franchise Houston Texans and saw all the young men stretching and getting themselves prepared for their early morning job interviews. My mind wandered back to a poem I learned in my college days that had the sentence that summed up my first impression, “It isn’t the victory after all, but the fight that a brother makes.” And by the looks of the Houston NFL Regional Combine participants, these gifted young men were ready to showcase their talent to league scouts that were in attendance.
Strange Beginnings
Astros win home opener against the Mariners 8-2
The crowd size may have changed, but the results are still the same. After having the season delayed for nearly three months due to COVID-19, the Houston Astros (1-0) finally opened their 2020 MLB season with a win over division foe Seattle Mariners (0-1) by a score of 8-2. The victory tonight makes the Astros 19-1 in the last 20 games dating back to last season and 11-0 in Minute Maid Park against the Mariners.
Coming Attraction: Houston Texans Hold 2018 OTA’s
One thing I love about going to the movies is the previews of new films before the main attraction. They show you a small clip of a finished movie that is due for release in a couple of months. That short 30 seconds to a minute showing gets you all excited for what’s to come.
Meet The Press: Texans free agent wide receiver Randall Cobb holds a press conference
The Coronavirus pandemic has altered the sports world and caused it to adjust in some very unconventional ways unseen by the sports media. Newly acquired Texans wide receiver, Randall Cobb held his press conference via teleconference instead of in person with local sports media last week.
Battle Buddies
Rockets bench has been biggest issue in the four-game losing streak
One of the first things the Army teaches you is how to support your battle buddy (other soldiers). No matter what happens you should always have your buddies back especially during adversity. The seventh line in the Soldiers Creed explains it best:
Coming Together
Astros hold another scrimmage in preparation for exhibition games next week
The Houston Astros are putting the right pieces into place and are once again coming together like that cohesive unit that we have seen win the American League Pennant for the last three years. For the second time in three days, the Astros held a Team Bagwell vs Team Biggio inter-squad scrimmage that ended in a 3-3 tie game.
Texans Take On the Green Bay Packers in Their First Preseason Game of 2019
The Houston Texans will take on the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night at Lambeau Field in their first preseason action of the 2019 NFL season. Although fans won’t see a lot of snaps from starters on both teams, the game will begin to answer some questions Texans fans have been pondering during the off-season and some that have arisen within the last week.
The Lovie Smith Era Begins
“I’ll tell you this the Texans won today,” said Smith in his press conference after practice. “A lot of guys have been showing up, showing out and making plays."
Texans GM Nick Caserio Sites Philosophical Differences As The Reason David Culley Was Fired
“I think it’s about moving forward, and it’s about, I would say, being open-minded to potentially making some changes, whatever those entail, whatever that constitution looks like,” said Caserio.
Lucky Number 7 Kyle Tucker Is Shining Bright For The Astros
Houston has some firepower at the top of their batting lineup. Yet, outfielder Kyle Tucker, who bats in the seventh spot, has been giving pitchers nightmares since his return from being placed in MLB’s health and safety protocol back in June.
Rockets Acquire Daniel Theis
“Daniel is a versatile center who impacts both ends of the court,” said Rockets general manager Rafael Stone. “We’re looking forward to adding his skillset to our young core and giving Coach Silas even more flexibility with his lineups.”
Astros Jose Altuve Does On-Field Workouts, But Doesn't Have A TimeTable For Return
“It felt pretty good today,” Altuve said about getting back to baseball-related activities. “Obviously, I took some ground balls, ran a little bit and threw some balls. I felt really, really good.”

Team First: Texans head coach/general manager Bill O’Brien reveals why the team traded DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona.
One thing I have learned by being born and raised in Texas is that we are a proud group of people who wear our emotions on our sleeves. You never have to worry about how we feel towards you because our facial expressions tells it all.
NBA Super Teams: The Beginning and The End
As I prepare myself to watch game three of the 2017 NBA Finals featuring the two best teams in the league, it got me to thinking about the NBA as a whole and why there are only two “Super Teams.” Which by the way get used to seeing the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors for at least the next 3 years (I will explain that shortly). But as we approach the upcoming game with the bevy of extraordinary talent that will be on the floor (LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving, etc.), ask yourself this question, is there enough talent in the league left to form another “Super Team?”
Sweet Sound
As soon as I stepped off the elevator, I could hear that sweet sound that I had missed for over nine months.
