Let’s Play Ball Finally
Major League Baseball is set to play a 60-game season this year
If 2020 hasn’t taught us anything else, we have learned that nothing is ever done in a normal fashion on a day-to-day basis and this past Tuesday was no different.
No Doubt: James Harden Is On Pace to Win His Second NBA-MVP Award
There was a pretty big game on Wednesday night between the Houston Rockets and Milwaukee Bucks. It was a showdown between two of the hottest teams in the NBA. The Bucks have the best record in the Eastern Conference and the Rockets are in a dogfight for third in the West behind Golden State Warriors and Denver Nuggets. But that’s not why there was a sold-out crowd at the Fiserv Forum in Wisconsin.
Astros Welcome Back Two Key Players As They Defeat The Washington Nationals 5-0
The Astros got a familiar face back in the lineup on Sunday as they defeat the Washington Nationals 5-0. Manager Dusty Baker got a glimpse of what his potential 2021 regular season lineup will look like in a 5-0 victory over the Washington Nationals on Sunday. Although they were without the services of third baseman Alex Bregman who is still nursing a hamstring injury, Baker had what some would predict as the starting lineup for the Astros.
Texans Coach Lovie Smith Knows He has His Hands Full Against Cardinals Offense
The issue that Houston Texans defensive coordinator Lovie Smith faces on Sunday when they take on the undefeated Arizona Cardinals is they have a team full of number one’s on the offensive side of the ball.
Watson Shows Up For The First Day Of Training Camp, But Takes No Reps
After a full offseason of uncertainty, and things becoming a little weird on Sunday when the Texans veterans showed up to camp, there was a Deshaun Watson sighting on the first day of training camp. The Texans first-round draft pick in the 2017 NFL Draft participated in quarterback drills but took no reps with the first or second team units during practice.
Good Competition: Astros defeat the Indians behind a dominant pitching performance from Gerrit Cole
If you grew up in a house with siblings who played sports, you are very familiar with the competition. Back in 1982, former NBA player Reggie Miller came home from a high school game excited and elated about the 39 points he scored in his basketball game. Now for any other family that would have been great, but not for a family that contained future NCAA champion in women’s basketball, Cheryl Miller.
Brantley’s bat and Javier’s arm helps the Astros bounce back with a 2-1 victory over the Rangers
Earlier this season, Astros manager Dusty Baker called his All-Star left fielder Michael Brantley a “Professional Hitter.” On Tuesday night Brantley held true to that title by blasting a two-run homerun over the right field wall which proved to be all the runs the Astros (20-15) would need as they defeated the Texas Rangers (13-22) 2-1 at Minute Maid Park. It was Brantley’s second homerun in as many games against the Rangers having hit a three-run shot the night before.
Texans Training Camp 2019 – Day 6
The Texans returned to the practice field on Wednesday after a much-needed day off. Although the players were happy to be off, you could also tell that they missed being in pads as the practice bubble at the Methodist training facility was buzzing before the media was fully able to get inside. Here are a couple of takeaways from day 6 of Texans training camp.
Texans waive D’Onta Foreman before heading to Green Bay
The Houston Texans waived former third-round pick running back D’Onta Foreman on Sunday before departing to Green Bay to practice against the Packers before playing against them in a preseason game on Thursday.
Greinke Wins Astros Debut 11-6 Over the Rockies
RHP Zack Greinke made his Astros’ debut in front of the largest crowd in attendance for a game this year (43,243) at Minute Maid Park and gave the fans a sample size of what they can expect heading towards the end of the season and into the playoffs. Although Greinke allowed five earned runs, three coming off of a homerun in the top of the sixth inning, he pitched a very efficient game.
Rookie Jalen Green's Improvement Gives Rockets Hope
“All-Star was just a confidence builder, being in that atmosphere, playing in that game,” Green said. “On top of that, me, and Luke (assistant coach John Lucas) be in the gym working, all the time. I’m just trusting my work.”
Javier Shines In Back-To-Back Performances
“Confidence breeds confidence,” Baker said. “And confidence breeds success. That’s what he’s demonstrating. He has a calmness about him, especially for a young pitcher.”
2020 Disappointment, Brings Astros Joy In 2021
Fast forward to 2021, and it looked as if the Astros would find themselves on the losing end of another ALCS. The Boston Red Sox had all the momentum, as they led the best-of-seven series 2-1 at home and headed towards a commanding 3-1 lead before a solo home run by Jose Altuve in the top of the eighth inning of Game 4 tied the game. That seemed to awaken the Astros bats as they would score seven more runs in the next inning and even the series at two games apiece.
Astros and A’s postpone game on Jackie Robinson Day to protest social injustice
On Friday, Major League Baseball teams celebrated former Negro League and Major League player Jackie Robinson who broke the color barrier in the MLB by becoming the first African American to play in the modern era in 1947. Robinson played during a time where the negro was looked down upon for the color of their skin. Many believe that the negro players should stay in the league they were given and leave the Major Leagues to the white players.
No Cozy Reunion
James Harden and Jeff Green use big offensive nights to defeat former team in Game 1
If there was any heart felt feelings towards the organization that drafted Rockets All-Star guard James Harden and NBA veteran forward Jeff Green you could not tell once they took the floor in their first-round matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2020 NBA Playoffs in Orlando. The Rockets defeated the Thunder 123-108 to take the first game of the best-of-seven series.
Unpacking the Issues
Green Bay leaves Houston still searching for answers
One thing you don’t want to do as a football team is to try and find your identity as a football team against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. The Texans lost their sixth game of the season by a score of 35 – 20 leaving them with an enormous amount of questions to answer during the bye week having won only one game this season.
Competitive Edge
Houston Texans complete the second week of Organized Team Activities
“They line up in a bunch formation and they all have the same moves coming off the line,” says Texans defensive back Jonathan Joseph as he discusses a certain team the Texans will face this upcoming season with his positions coach. “Sometimes they switch the alignment of the receivers to throw you off,” he continues.

On Thursday, the NCAA will get back to some sort of normalcy as its First Four round of the 2021 Men’s basketball tournament begins and the opening game will feature one of two Houston schools to reach the “Big Dance.” Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament Champions Texas Southern (16-8) will face Mount St. Mary’s (12-10) who also made it to the NCAA tournament by winning the Northeast Conference Tournament.
Prairie View Uses Dominant Ground Game To Win Labor Day Classic Over Texas Southern
After waiting for over an hour due to inclement weather, Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern were finally able to open their 2022 season in the annual Labor Day Classic. The Panthers improved their record to 8-0 against the Tigers in their last eight matchups with a 40-23 win, as Prairie View has not lost to Texas Southern since August 31, 2014.
Week 2 Of Texans Training Camp Begins With Some Strong Questions That Need To Be Answered.
Let me preface my statement by saying, “Yes. I do know he is a rookie?” I understand the Texans selected quarterback Davis Mills with their first pick in round 3 of the 2021 NFL Draft. What did I expect from a rookie in his first training camp of his NFL career? More.
