Michael Brantley returns back to Cleveland as a starter in the 2019 MLB All-Star Game
As I prepared to exit the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, I was stopped in my tracks mid-stride and paused for a second. What I was witnessing was something I was not prepared for, but definitely had been waiting all my life to see. Walking out of the last door at the north end of the airport, there is a nice montage of my childhood hero Superman. The fictional character was created during the 1930s and portrayed as a working-class citizen by day and crime fighter by night.
SWAC Releases Tentative Spring Football Schedule
This past week the Southwestern Athletic Conference made a move to try to bring some sense of normalcy back to its 10 football programs. They announced the league’s 2021 spring football schedule

The Southwestern Athletic Conference passed out weekly honors for outstanding performances on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball as well as special teams and newcomer of the week.
High School Coaches On Leave After Forcing Hebrew Israelite Player To Eat Pork As Punishment
A group of coaches including the head coach at Mckinley Senior High School located in Canton, Ohio have been placed on administrative leave after they forced a 17-year-old football player to consume pork as a punishment even though they were told on numerous occasions that it was against his religion.

Texans defeat the Lions 30 – 23 to win their first preseason game
Texans fans got a glimpse of what the upcoming season is going to look like as they watched the hometown team defeat the Detroit Lions 30 – 23. The first team offense under new offensive coordinator Tim Kelly put together a great 75-yard scoring drive that was capped off by a 4-yard touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson to DeAndre Hopkins.

Texas Southern Drops Home Opener To Southern
Things didn’t go according to plans for Texas Southern on Saturday against the Southern Jaguars. In front of a very limited home crowd at BBVA Stadium due to COVID-19 Protocol, the Tigers dropped their 2021 Spring Football home opener by a score of 51-23.
Heating Up Texans Training Camp: Day 13
Texans head coach Bill O’Brien gave his players a much-needed break from the heat today as they practiced inside the bubble for the first time in over a week. Panthers Dominate Pine-Bluff Early To Stay Undefeated In Conference Play
Prairie View A&M ran away from the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff on Thursday night as they rushed for 289 yards in a 27-17 win at Panther Stadium. The Panthers improved to 4-1 on the season, but more importantly, they pushed their conference record to 3-0 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Western division.

Prairie View A&M (1-0, 1-0 SWAC) defeated Texas Southern (0-1, 0-1 SWAC) in the Labor Day Classic 20-19 at Panther Stadium. It was the season opener for the Panthers who had a limited home crowd in attendance.
SWAC postpones fall sports in 2020 with plans to resume in spring 2021
The COVID-19 global pandemic has caused the college sports world to come to a screeching halt and on Monday the Southwestern Athletic Conference was affected when it announced the postponement of all scheduled fall sports along with the SWAC championships. That announcement comes on the heels of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announcing last Thursday that the league will suspend all sports competition, championship and non-championship segments, for the fall season.

Rockets NBA Season Opener Cancelled Due To COVID
On Wednesday the National Basketball Association postponed the game scheduled between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center in accordance with the league’s Health and Safety Protocols. It would have been the season opener for both teams.

The Houston Rockets game plan was to keep Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic in check and make the role players beat them. Neither was accomplished as the Mavericks got a triple double (33 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists) from Doncic and 30 points from reserve guard Tim Hardaway Jr. as Dallas beat Houston 113-100 in the “Battle of I-45” at the Toyota Center on Tuesday.
Ten Toes Down
One phrase that never gets old throughout the city of Houston is, “Ten Toes Down.” Now I know some of you all are not familiar with it and others are reading this saying, “I have used that ever since I was a kid.” The phrase literally means that no matter what a person goes through, they will always have both feet planted on the ground ready to take on any adversity that may come their way. I am almost certain that the Houston Texans have uttered that sentence more than once this year and probably will make it a rally cry heading into the final weeks of the 2020 NFL season.
