Maybe Andre Johnson Day needs to be a traveling event. After an impressive win over the Arizona Cardinals last week at home, where the franchise’s leading receiver was put into the team’s Ring of Honor, the Houston Texans rolled into M&T Bank Stadium looking to put together a consecutive game winning streak. Unfortunately, that did not happen as the Texans lost to the Baltimore Ravens 23-16.

It was like the spirits of the “Unknown 8” (The first known class of the Alta Vista Agriculture & Mechanical College for Colored Youth who enrolled and began their studies March 11, 1878) was walking with me. Until you have been on the first state supported college in Texas for African Americans and the second oldest public institution of higher education in the state, you won’t know the jubilation of screaming out, “Who Ya Rooting For” at all sporting events.
Almost Home: Houston Texans Prepare to Leave West Virginia
Talk to anyone whose job requires them to travel at least 15-20 days out of the month and they will tell you that they start to get a tingling sensation by the end of the week because they know it is time to go home. Most will reiterate how great their bed feels or how they only get good food from their regular spots at home, even though all Chick-Fil-A’s are the same. Side note: So is their excellent customer service, but I digress. That’s how most of the Houston Texans players feel as they wrap up the first part of 2018 training camp in West Virginia. They will make a quick stop in Kansas City to take on the Chiefs in their first preseason game and then it’s back to Houston.

That was by far one of the best days of my life. Well, that was until I stepped into Delmar Stadium in Houston, Texas on February 1, 2017, to witnessed all of our brave men and women who were injured serving and defending this country go up against NFL alumni pros all in the name of charity.
