Help Is On The Way

Now I don’t know how spiritual Rockets Head Coach Stephen Silas is, but if I have to take an educated guess, I will say that he has done some praying in his alone time or maybe even on the bench during this current 18-game losing streak which is also a franchise record.

“Run With Caution”

“I told him (Tucker) after the game that ‘You saved the game,’” said Astros manager Dusty Baker. “A lot of time people think that a game is saved in the ninth inning, but that was a game saver at that time. It was on the money and a good tag. Tucker has been playing lights out.”

Former WNBA star Becky Hammon made headlines back in August of 2014 when she became the first full time female coach in NBA history for the San Antonio Spurs. Some will say she blazed the trail for the female coaches behind her, as a record number 11 women are currently on staff with other NBA teams around the league.

Astros Fight Off Elimination To Bring Series Back To Houston

That is a fact. A Game 5 loss would send Houston back home, having lost the World Series in Atlanta. But if they won Game 5, they come back to Houston with a fighting chance of capturing their second championship in franchise history.

Texans lose season opener to the Saints on a last-second field goal

“Barefield. You almost got it,” said one of my teammates on the basketball team in high school. What he was referring to was my attempt to try and dunk a basketball. I was very close. So close that after a few tries I just hung on the rim. It gave me a sense that one day soon I would complete the task of dunking like my favorite NBA player at the time, Dominique Wilkins.

First Round Draft Pick of The Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson Arrives in Houston

Dressed in studded Louboutin shoes, the #12 pick of the 2017 NFL Draft walked into his first press conference as a Houston Texan just as cool as he walked off the field during his college days at Clemson when they beat the Alabama Crimson Tide in this year’s College Football National Championship game. With a smiling Head Coach Bill O’Brien and GM Rick Smith by his side, an emotional Deshaun Watson began his life as a professional football player.

Passing the Torch

I can imagine that whenever the name of 15-year old tennis phenom Cori ‘Coco’ Gauff is brought up that a certain young lady in the city of Houston face lights up with excitement. It’s as if she is looking at a direct reflection of herself on television. Before Venus and Serena Williams was ripping through the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) at a rapid pace, there was another African American young lady who paved the way for them as well.

“He kept us in the ballgame until that (fifth) inning,” Maldonado said after the game. “A bad inning could happen to anybody. If you look at how that inning started, a blooper in right field, that’s part of the game.”

From the Bottom to the Top: Houston Astros Are World Series Champions

The Houston Astros are the 2017 World Series Champions. Ok. For Houston Astros fans, I know you don’t believe what you just read, so I will say it again. The best team in baseball for 2017 is your Houston Astros. This is the same team that at one point during the regular season in 2013 had a 14-million-dollar payroll on the field. They were the running joke of Major League Baseball for losing more than 100 games for three straight seasons and were nicknamed the “Lastros” by some fans.

Bad Blood

Benches clear as Astros and Dodgers faced each other in Houston for the first time since 2017

Ever been out somewhere and notice a fixture that causes you to reminisce about the past? It could be a park that you and a significant other use to go to just to talk. Or that one restaurant that you used to go to as a kid that just took you back to your younger days? Now not all memories will be pleasant. Some of those places could take you back to some tumultuous times in your life and cause some real emotions to stir up.

Late Game Collapse

OKC uses late game run to defeat the Rockets 117-114 to even the series

For the second game in a row the Houston Rockets (2-2) have been good, but just not good enough to finish. After losing Game 3 on Saturday in overtime due to the inefficiency to slow down big runs by the Oklahoma City Thunder (2-2) at the end of quarters, the Rockets let it happen again in Game 4. OKC used a 22-7 run at the end of the third quarter to erase a Houston 15-point lead and would go on to defeat Houston by a score of 117-114 to even the series at two games apiece.
