Fans took to social media to express their love and support for the three-time American League Pennant Champions despite their lack of physical presence in Minute Maid Park.

Mamba Out

NBA Icon Kobe Bryant and eight other passengers pass away in early morning helicopter crash in California.

I remember it like it was yesterday. June 25, 2009, I was standing in the checkout line at the Shopette in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. In my basket were candy, chips, and other products I had been tasked to get for the rest of the soldiers that were in basic training with me. Was I supposed to be there? No. But we can talk about that at a later date. As I stood in line trying not to be seen by the drill sergeants, my eyes happened to catch a glance at what was being shown on the television. Pop Icon and music legend, Michael Jackson, had passed away due to health complications.

Astros’ George Springer “Strikes Out” 3rd Annual Bowling Benefit for Camp SAY

The worst thing a baseball player can hear is the word strike. But on this night that word was what George Springer and all the Houston Astros players in attendance wanted to hear as they made strikes for children who stutter. Astros’ Outfielder George Springer brought along family, friends, and teammates to help raise money for underprivileged youth to attend Camp SAY at the Third Annual George Springer All-Star Bowling Benefit.

For the second night in a row, the Houston Astros failed to get any RBI’s (Runs Batted In) while giving up RBI’s (Real Big Innings). The Washington Nationals defeated the Houston Astros, 12-3 to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the 2019 World Series. Only three teams have ever gone down 0-2 at home to come back and win the World Series: 1985 Kansas City Royals, 1986 New York Mets, and the 1996 New York Yankees.

Myles Straw Is Learning To Center Himself

I can imagine that is what Astros center fielder Myles Straw must have felt like his first month as the starting center fielder for the Houston Astros. He was replacing a guy who not only was great at the plate but was amazing defensively in center field in former Astros player George Springer who left Houston via free agency to sign with the Toronto Blue Jays this past season.

Four-Star DE Ashton Porter Commits To Northwestern

“Academics,” was the one-word answer Porter gave me when I asked him why he chose Northwestern over schools such as Texas, Arkansas, Baylor, Arizona, and Grambling. “I am trying to be the best engineer in the world. I also am very interested in sports media, and Northwestern has an excellent communications department.”

The Test Of A Man NFL Regional Combine-Houston, Texas

I walked into the NRG practice facility for the NFL franchise Houston Texans and saw all the young men stretching and getting themselves prepared for their early morning job interviews. My mind wandered back to a poem I learned in my college days that had the sentence that summed up my first impression, “It isn’t the victory after all, but the fight that a brother makes.” And by the looks of the Houston NFL Regional Combine participants, these gifted young men were ready to showcase their talent to league scouts that were in attendance.

On A Mission: Souper Bowl of Caring Holds Annual Fundraiser and Awards Luncheon

Who knew that in 1990, before Super Bowl 24 was played by the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos, that an organization designed around young people to help fight hunger, poverty, and homelessness in the United States would be started by a small but powerful prayer?

Prodigal Son James Harden returns to Houston for the first time since being trade.

If you are or have been a regular parishioner at any church in your city you have heard the story in the Bible about the prodigal son. It’s a parable based on redemptive mercy, love, grace, and forgiveness. The premise of the story is based on a father excepting one of his son’s back home even though he left on bad terms. On Wednesday, former Houston Rockets player James Harden will play the role of the prodigal son as he returns to the Toyota center as the starting point guard for the Brooklyn Nets. It will be a site very unfamiliar to fans who have watched him go up and down the court in a Rockets uniform for the past eight-plus seasons. The former MVP was traded to the Nets back in mid-January after what some considered as a half-hearted effort on the court to open the season.

Leslie Alexander Puts Houston Rockets Franchise On the Market

“It’s been my great joy and honor to own the Houston Rockets for the past 24 years.” These were the words spoken by current Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander in a prepared statement as he announced his plans to sell the franchise. Alexander purchased the team in July 1993 for $85 million (currently valued at $1.65 billion) from Charlie Thomas. The sale of the team came right after the Rockets were coming off a grueling seven game series against the Seattle Supersonics and it came at a time when Houston was in desperate need of an identity.

A Tradition Like No Other

Five Astros Named to the 2018 MLB All-Star Game in D.C.

In college, there was a young man who would drive over an hour every Friday just to make it to his parents’ house for dinner. You could almost set your watch by it because he had the same routine. Get out of class, pack up his vehicle, and hit the road no later than 4 pm. So, one day I asked him why he leaves campus every Friday to go home? He looked at me and said, “Our family tradition is to have dinner as a family every Friday night no matter what. We have been doing it for years.”
