MLS Forms Historic Partnership with Black-Owned Banks
Soccer is not high on the list of sports that African Americans gravitate towards. Whites dominate the sport followed by those with a Latino background. Even though Major League Soccer (MLS) is considered to be the most diverse professional sport, African Americans participation soccer is still extremely low. Just look at the numbers of African Americans in professional sports. In the National Football League, which has the highest number of African American players with nearly 70%., there are only 5 head coaches and 0 majority owned teams.
The Changing Definition of Beauty
Pulling the naps out of our hair with a comb that is blazing at 149 degrees Fahrenheit. Starving ourselves, going under the knife, duck taping our body parts just to minimize the size of our breasts, butt, and hips so we could be looked at as the perfect sized woman as defined by America culture. Looking in the mirror trying to find the beauty in the face staring back when we have been brainwashed to think that beauty is everything but what we see reflected in the mirror. This esteemed fellowship, part of the ACLS HBCU Faculty Fellowship and Grant Program, offers flexible support tailored to the research, teaching, and service commitments unique to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In its inaugural year, the program will provide assistance to 20 HBCU faculty scholars, empowering them to pursue exceptional research projects in the humanities and interpretive social sciences.
