What is cool is ever changing as it is defined by a generation. Trends in music, fashion, and language help to bring meaning to “being cool.” Topping that list are cars, specifically sports cars. They are fast, fierce, and oh so fun to drive. Nothing could be cooler. For a week, I got to sit in the driver’s seat of Volkswagen’s sporty mid-size sedan, the 2018 Volkswagen Passat GT V6 and learned how it is a new version of cool.

In the aftermath of a hurricane like Harvey, a bevy of problems arise. The main concern high on the recovery checklist is the health of citizens, which might have been threatened by being in floodwaters. Some people were trapped for hours-to-days on end as they were waiting to be rescued while others are being exposed in the days after Harvey as they begin the clean up process of their property. By a vote of 5-0, Harris County now has a new elections administrator, and his name is Clifford Tatum. Judge Lina Hidalgo made the announced on late Tuesday evening. The five-member bipartisan Harris County Elections Commission will make the official appointment of Tatum once he moves to Harris County and becomes a registered voter.
